We are looking for a committed, full-time Behaviour Specialist to join a primary school in the NP11 area (including Risca, Abercarn, and Newbridge) from September 2025.
Role Overview:
As a Behaviour Specialist, you’ll work closely with pupils who have ASD and behavioural needs. Your role will involve delivering structured, individualised support and helping children develop emotional regulation, communication, and learning strategies in a positive, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD and behavioural challenges
Develop and implement Behaviour Intervention Plans (BIPs) tailored to individual needs
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to promote consistency and progress
Monitor behaviour and progress, adapting support strategies accordingly
Model and promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive social behaviours
Support staff across the school with behaviour management tools and approaches
About You:
You are calm, empathetic, and resilient. You understand the importance of structure, clear communication, and consistent support when working with neurodiverse learners.
Essential:
Proven experience supporting children or young people with ASD
Solid understanding of behaviour management and intervention techniques
Background in education, youth work, care, psychology, or SEN support
Excellent communication, teamwork, and observation skills
Desirable (but not essential):
Relevant qualifications (e.g. SEN, psychology, behaviour, education)
Experience in a school or specialist provision
Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation training (training can be provided)
