About the role

EQUANS is looking for a Mobile Multiskilled Mechanical Engineer to work on our HMCTS contract at Bradford Combined Court. This permanent full-time position requires 40 hours per week and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.


General Overview

The primary purpose of the role is to carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of Mechanical and Electrical Buildings Services Engineering plant, ensuring all activities are completed safely, timely and in line with contracted output specifications and EQUANS processes and procedures. Responsibilities include:

* Legionella control and monitoring activities.
* Ensure routine PPM is carried out for all mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with site task schedules and CAFM.
* Complete reactive tasks and highlight areas for improvement.
* Remediate plant faults and defects swiftly to keep plant in serviceable order.
* Provide parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial works.
* Complete relevant paperwork and CAFM entries for PPM, reactive and breakdown works.
* Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks.
* Develop a good working relationship with EQUANS staff, subcontractors and client representatives.
* Ensure a safe and healthy working environment, including wearing uniform and PPE at all times.
* Maintain professional image of EQUANS to clients.
* Keep up-to-date plant logs.
* Keep plant rooms clean and tidy.
* Arrange holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in working patterns.
* Perform lone working when required, subject to satisfactory training.
* Action and complete assigned tasks appropriately.
* Be aware of and comply with contractual KPIs/SLA.
* Maintain CAFM system (e.g., Maximo) with accurate data and close out tickets.
* Operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements.
* Carry out any other tasks as directed by the account management team.
* Provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.


Client / Customer

* Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests.
* Coordinate quotations with the contract manager.
* Produce information for quotations.


Helpdesk – PPM

* Support the Helpdesk when reporting or updating planned and reactive maintenance.
* Be available for out of hours call‑out support for the contract.


Compliance

* Gain Technical Appointments as required (e.g., LVCP/LVAP/Mechanical/Pressure CP).
* Produce Condition/Dilapidation Reports as required.
* Inform supervisor immediately if dangerous circumstances occur.


SHEQ

* Comply with requests for information from SHEQ manager.
* Work to company health and safety policy.
* Ensure PPE is safe to use.
* Report accidents and near misses promptly.
* Keep test equipment within calibration.
* Follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works.


Impact

* Carry out Mechanical Engineering tasks.
* Assist with adherence to company quality standards.
* Ensure compliance with specifications and current standards.
* Maintain and care for company tools.
* Wear appropriate clothing/uniform.
* Keep work areas clean and tidy.
* Be responsible for company van in accordance with vehicle policy.
* Coordinate materials.
* Ensure timely completion of documentation.
* Carry out work as directed by the account team to agreed quality standards.
* Manage adherence to planned and reactive tasks.
* Manage subcontractors in accordance with H&S legislation.
* Provide courteous and considerate service to members of the public.
* Accept any other reasonable management request.


Complexity

* Complete fault finding, minor repairs and installation alongside general maintenance services.
* Ensure specialist subcontractor visits are efficient and quality is inspected.
* Support other engineers and operatives in the region as required.
* Work with wider FM maintenance activities when required.
* Assist in preparing company reports, worksheets and support SLA procedures.
* Adhere to safety policy and advise line manager of safety‑affecting situations.
* Communicate effectively with all levels; work unsupervised when needed.
* Support through smartphone technology and specialist tools.


Safety

* Comply with SHEQ procedures.
* Report risks, near misses, incidents to management/SHEQ immediately.
* Risk assess each job upon arrival on a site‑specific basis.
* Use appropriate safety equipment and clothing/uniform when completing works.
* Ensure public protection measures are taken and adhered to.
* Be responsible for personal and others’ safety.


Qualifications or Required Experience

* Approximately 5 years relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer within an FM environment.
* City and Guilds – Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.
* Excellent communication skills at all levels.
* Proactive and drive to continuously improve operations.
* Good IT and report‑writing skills.
* Ability to work under pressure while remaining calm and delivering services within time constraints.
* High initiative and desire to improve.
* Advanced communication skills and full understanding of customer needs & expectations.
* Ability to comprehend and act upon verbal and written instructions.
* Enthusiasm, pro‑activity, diligence and alertness; willingness to participate in training programmes.
* Integrity, honesty and punctuality.
* Current and valid full & clean UK driving licence.
