We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our Risk and Compliance function. As the Risk and Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of risk management and compliance frameworks across the Group. You will play a key role in safeguarding the Group’s interests by ensuring regulatory compliance, minimising risk exposure, and supporting a strong culture of ethical business practices in line with one of our key values: Always Do The Right Thing.

This role is a full-time, 37.5hrs/week position, working 3 days/week in the office and 2 days from home.
Your Responsibilities and Role:
1. Risk Management:
o Lead the identification, assessment, and management of risks across the organisation.
o Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy with appropriate controls.
o Oversee risk mitigation efforts, ensuring controls are in place.
o Advise senior management on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and potential threats.
2. Compliance Oversight:
o Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements.
o Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
o Act as the Group’s Data Protection Officer, advising on GDPR issues.
o Liaise with the Audit and Risk Committee Chair to develop the Internal Audit plan and coordinate with external partners.
o Provide compliance training and promote a culture of compliance.
3. Reporting and Communication:
o Prepare risk and compliance reports for senior leadership and the Board, providing assurance on controls.
o Communicate risks and compliance issues effectively across the organisation.
4. Strategic Development:
o Contribute to the organisation's strategic direction with expertise on risk and compliance.
o Support new business initiatives by managing associated risks.
o Align the organisation’s risk appetite with its business objectives.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Proven experience in risk and compliance, preferably in Retail or plc environments.
* Strong understanding of risk frameworks, compliance regulations, and industry best practices.
* Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., IRM, ACCA, ACA, IIA) are desirable.
* Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Strategic thinker with attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills.
* Strong leadership, decision-making, and organisational abilities.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* High integrity, professionalism, and commitment to ethical practices.
* Effective upward communication and influencing skills.
