Our roster has an opening with your name on it The Position We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Platform Engineering Manager to lead within our Reliability Engineering domain. This role involves managing and mentoring a team of engineers, driving continuous improvement, and delivering scalable, high-quality solutions. You’ll provide strategic and technical direction, collaborate on long-term planning, and contribute to building an innovative customer experience. Strong communication skills, a commitment to learning, and the ability to propose pragmatic solutions to complex problems are key. You’ll represent your team, shape its structure and output, and align your work with FanDuel’s broader goals and values. Some of your responsibilities will include: Lead and manage a team of Platform Engineers, aligning team functions and objectives with organisational goals, while ensuring capacity planning and preventing burnout. Collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders to define and deliver scalable, cost-conscious, and secure technical solutions that prioritise customer satisfaction. Guide the team in owning and supporting infrastructure systems, ensuring high-quality internal and external user experience. Proactively identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect delivery timelines and quality. Coordinate incident response with sensible remediation actions and timely stakeholder updates. What We’re Looking For Strong people management and coaching skills, with a focus on performance management, personal development, and team morale even under pressure. Proven ability to mentor engineers to improve code quality, platform resilience, and engineering best practices. Experience managing scalable, highly available cloud environments, preferably in AWS, with an understanding of SRE principles, observability, and performance testing tools. Technically capable of reading code and advocating for maintainable, testable, and well-monitored solutions. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective cross-team relationships and align engineering efforts with business goals. Skilled in communication, facilitation, and presentation, with the ability to represent technical topics clearly to a range of audiences.
