Overview
CMN is seeking a Tutor and Assessor to deliver Training courses and/or Apprenticeship standards to a rolling caseload of Apprentices in Engineering.
The appointed Tutor will support the Apprentices from initial sign up through to completion and progression.
Reports to: Senior Training Manager
Contract: Freelance or Full Time
Location: Depending on contract, role would be either:
* Freelance – Home based with travel to Apprentices’ employment premises throughout Cornwall and to CMN’s offices as required for standardisation meetings.
* Full Time – Based at our offices in Falmouth with travel to Apprentices’ employment premises throughout Cornwall
Remuneration/Hourly Rate: Competitive hourly and day rates
Key functions
1. Supporting a caseload of learners and Apprentices and their employers, as required and agreed with the Training Delivery and Quality Manager
2. Ensure the successful and timely completion and progression of apprentices and other learners within allocated caseloads
3. Act as a Tutor/Trainer supporting individual learning from Levels 2 to 5; tracking documents and providing feedback, monitoring and assessing progress
4. Ensure learner records, information and data is kept up to date, secure (Data Protection) and relevant through utilisation of training team systems and processes
5. To undertake and administer all paperwork related to learning and training for learners within allocated caseload, maintaining all course and related documentation, including course/lesson plans
6. Support Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) duties in conjunction with other Assessors as allocated by the Training Delivery and Quality Manager
7. Liaise with the project teams to facilitate suitable progression opportunities for participants on the various CMN programme
8. Attendance at caseload reviews and standardisation meetings with Training delivery and Quality Manager
9. Utilise CMN’s e-portfolio system (VQ Manager) in delivering an efficient and auditable apprenticeship support service
10. Promote CMN training offers to member businesses and others
11. To work at all times in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and to follow all company procedures and guidelines which assist this
12. To work at all times in accordance with the company’s Equal Opportunities Policy, Safeguarding Policy and all relevant policies within the general scope of the job
Essential Criteria:
* Hold a specialist engineering qualification at level 4 or above
* Be based in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly
* Able to perform well under pressure and excellent time-management skills
* High level of commitment to improving people’s lives through learning
* Good at multi-tasking and able to apply differentiation to support a range of learner needs
* Good IT skills
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
* Ability and capacity to be flexible and consistent
* Provide a DBS check (on appointment)
* Have completed or be willing to complete equal opportunities, safeguarding and Prevent training
Desirable Criteria:
* IQA Qualified (Essential only for IQA work)
* Suitably qualified Teacher (PGCE, Level 3 Education and Training Award, L3 Teaching qualification)
* Assessors Award (or already working towards)
* Demonstrable prior experience in teaching/assessing in the subject area
* Excellent subject area teaching strategies
* Experience in designing and developing curriculum for the specialist subject area
* Experience of delivering training online and remotely
