Overview
The Royal Albert Memorial Museum are seeking an experienced, creative and passionate Café Manager during an exciting time of development as we test and diversify our Café offer. RAMM is a flagship service of Exeter City Council and a world class museum that welcomes visitors with a changing programme of exhibitions and events inspired by the museum's collections.
RAMM launched its own café in early 2025, after many years of operating under an external provider. A funded project is underway to research and develop our offer, and we are engaging a speciality consultant to explore the potential of our café. The café is currently mirroring the City Council's flagship St Sidwell's Point leisure centre's café, and the Food and Beverage Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our visitor experience. This role sits within the museum operations team and requires close collaboration with the Retail Manager, Visitor Services Manager and Venue Hire Officer, as well as the collections and audience development teams and wider culture services areas.
Responsibilities
* Manage daily café operations.
* Foster an environment of exceptional customer service.
* Maintain high food quality standards and develop and implement efficient service.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
* Communicate effectively with the café and museum teams to ensure seamless hospitality delivery across our venue and café.
* Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally and effectively.
* Work with consultants to design and adapt the offer.
* Liaise professionally with corporate and private hire customers, providing quotations and coordinating from enquiry to invoice.
* Review and develop catering offers, including venue hire menus and services, working closely with the Venue Hire Officer.
Qualifications and skills
* Excellent communication skills.
* A passion for food and customer service.
* Accountability for stock control and building relationships with suppliers.
* Flexible and able to work under pressure with strong attention to detail.
* Excellent organisation skills to manage staff scheduling and inventory management.
* Willingness to engage in personal development including regional and national networking and information sharing to inform best practice and support development.
* Able to cover sickness and leave, often at short notice.
