The Energy Manager will be responsible for optimising energy performance across data centre infrastructure, ensuring efficient operation of critical systems while supporting the organisations sustainability objectives. This role will play a key part in new data centre design and construction, ensuring best practice in energy efficiency, power utilisation and environmental performance. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, facilities, construction teams and external partners to reduce energy consumption and improve operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Energy Strategy & Management Develop and implement the organisations energy management strategy. Monitor and optimise energy usage across all data centre operations. Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and cost reduction. Support corporate sustainability and carbon reduction goals. Data Centre Energy Performance Monitor and improve Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) across the campus. Analyse power consumption of critical systems including cooling, UPS, and IT loads. Implement energy optimisation initiatives across plant and infrastructure. Support engineering teams in improving operational efficiency. Construction & Expansion Projects Provide energy efficiency input into new data centre design and build projects. Work with design teams to ensure optimal power and cooling efficiency. Evaluate technologies such as advanced cooling systems, heat reuse and renewable energy integration. Energy Monitoring & Reporting Implement and maintain energy monitoring systems. Analyse data to identify trends, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities. Produce regular energy performance reports for senior leadership. Compliance & Standards Ensure compliance with energy-related regulations and reporting requirements. Lead implementation and maintenance of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems. Support sustainability reporting and environmental initiatives. Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with facilities, engineering, construction and IT teams. Engage with utility providers, consultants and technology vendors. Promote energy awareness and best practice across the organisation. Skills & Experience: Essential Proven experience in an Energy Manager, Energy Engineer or Sustainability role. Experience managing energy performance in large technical facilities (data centres, industrial sites, or critical infrastructure). Strong understanding of electrical systems, cooling technologies and building energy management. Experience analysing complex energy data and identifying efficiency opportunities. Knowledge of energy management frameworks and UK energy regulations. Desirable Experience in data centre environments. Knowledge of Power Usage Effectiveness optimisation. Experience implementing ISO 50001. Experience with renewable energy procurement or on-site generation. Degree in engineering, energy management or a related discipline.
