Job Overview
We are seeking an Experienced Dog Handler to join our boarding kennel and daycare team. This role involves the daily care, supervision, and handling of dogs of all sizes and temperaments, including large and sometimes reactive dogs. The ideal candidate is confident, calm under pressure, and passionate about providing safe, structured, and compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Safely handle, supervise, and manage dogs in boarding and daycare settings
* Confidently work with large, strong, and occasionally reactive dogs
* Monitor dog behavior and body language to prevent incidents
* Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kennel and play areas
* Follow established feeding, medication, and care protocols
* Safely leash, move, and rotate dogs throughout the facility
* Communicate clearly with team members regarding dog behavior and needs
* Provide enrichment, exercise, and structured play as appropriate
* Ensure the safety and well-being of dogs, staff, and visitors at all times
Requirements
* Prior professional experience working with dogs in a kennel, daycare, shelter, or training environment
* Demonstrated experience handling large breeds and dogs with behavioral challenges
* Ability to remain calm, assertive, and aware in high-energy situations
* Strong understanding of canine body language and behavior
* Physically capable of standing for long periods, lifting, and handling strong dogs
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
* Must follow safety protocols and facility procedures consistently
Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract, Volunteer
Pay: £12.21-£15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 6 – 30 per week
