About the Role
Operator behind the electricity distribution systems for the Midlands, the Southwest of England and South Wales. Serving communities of more than 8 million people, our expert teams deliver heat, light and power for homes and businesses.
Main Responsibilities
* Network operations including issuing limitations of access and permit to work safety documents up to 66kV.
* Construction of distribution substations.
* Construction and alteration of overhead lines and associated plant.
* Installation of plant.
* Laying and jointing of cables up to 11kV.
* Repair and replacement of faulty and obsolete plant, cables, and overhead lines.
* Recording asset routes, details, positions, and plant details.
* Connecting generators.
Ideal Candidate
You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team and be capable of making on‑the‑spot decisions as required. Good communication skills, flexible attitude, and the ability to cope with pressure and tight deadlines are essential. You must train as an SAP and be mobile throughout the area to undertake standby duties as part of the formal rota. The successful candidate will live within approximately 30 minutes of the depot.
Qualifications
* C/4‑9 GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, or functional skills Level 2 in both subjects.
* City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
* Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 (if not already attained).
* Grade A competency.
Location
Network Technician across Devon (Exeter and Torquay). You will be accountable to the Team Manager for construction, maintenance and repair of the underground and overhead network up to 66kV, switching up to 66kV, issuing safety documentation, and other tasks appropriate to the technician’s role.
