About The Role
Principal Technologist (Advanced Design) - INTERNAL ONLY
The principal technologist identifies and explores viable routes to enrich the technology and capability asset of the NCC and, therefore, the UK.
* The role is as a subject matter expert inputting into the wider strategies, horizon scanning for new opportunities and supporting the wider business with technology development
* The primary responsibility is for the technical formation and leading the technical execution of relevant technology campaigns and programmes in line with business requirements.
* Responsible for defining and developing technology project bids, proposals and programmes with external partners to expand existing or develop new areas of technology capability
* Responsible for maintaining internal and external credibility across academia to industry in the relevant technology domains, unlocking new opportunities to resolve complex technical challenges and capability gaps.
* Lead project teams, often temporary and/or for a specific purpose to deliver new technical capabilities and areas into the business
* Provide direct support to the CT, and when required act as deputy in the relevant technical domains.
Technical Activities you'll be responsible for:
Revise and assess literature surveys to develop methods to meet varied complex novel technical requirements.
You will appraise and revise proposals ensuring strategic alignment for short and long term roadmaps in collaboration with engineering operations, sector and wider technology teams.
Integrate, advise and influence technical tasks; developing engineering outcomes which utilise state-of-the-art complex techniques. This may be across multiple-disciplines.
You will provide technical specialist authority and guidance on projects and technical capability/strategy development.
You will demonstrate a commitment and leadership to others in the continual upkeep of technical capability and relevance to customer demand.
Revise, formulate and lead novel and innovative approaches to pioneer technical solutions, road-mapping and strategy. You will foster innovation in other and have technical autonomy in your specialist area. This level of innovation is revolutionary and may include establishing a new novel technical capability or process.
Customer Interaction
Establish effective partnerships across boundaries both internally and externally. You will have broad technical networks nationally and/or internationally and be regarded as an expert in your specialist field.
Represent the NCC in relevant technical forums and champion our technical strategy.
So what do we need to see in your application?
* Relevant career experience including having operated within senior leadership groups.
* Phd or equivalent degree/qualification in Technical field or demonstratable equivalent experience of technology complexity and depth.
* Substantial engineering experience with technology development
* Meets requirements of UK SPEC competencies for Chartered Engineer
