General Manager – The Crown Inn, Lea

We're looking for an experienced and ambitious General Manager to take the lead at The Crown Inn, Lea – a newly refurbished 15th-century country pub. In just 5 months, we've built a fantastic reputation and strong trade, and now we want to keep building momentum and make The Crown Inn a true destination for both locals and visitors.
About Us:
The Crown Inn is proudly independent and local farming family run village pub, serving fresh, seasonal dishes made with top-end local suppliers and hand-reared produce. The pub features:
* 5 beautifully appointed bedrooms
* 60 covers inside and 90 covers outside
* A summer bar and spacious garden
With the combination of heritage, fresh ingredients, and a modern approach, the place is set for success. Now we're looking for the right person to build on the strong foundations and truly make it their own.
The Role:
This is not just a day-to-day management position – it's about taking the lead in the area and keeping us ahead of the competition. You'll work closely with the family to help realise their vision, inspire and develop the team, and bring creative ideas that give locals reason to keep coming back, attract new visitors, and cement our reputation as a must-visit place.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide strong leadership across all areas of the business, including customer service, day-to-day operations and financial management
* Maintain training and development for Assistant Managers and supervising staff
* Inspire and motivate Front and Back of House teams to deliver consistently excellent service
* Work closely with the family to shape and deliver their long-term vision
* Contribute creatively to events, promotions, and new ideas that drive business, including developing daily rituals
* Embrace the role of the pub in the local community
* Demonstrate excellent knowledge of food and drink, including wine, ensuring quality and consistency
* Oversee stock control, supplier relationships, and financial performance to maximise profitability
* Ensure compliance with licensing, health & safety, and food hygiene standards
About You:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in senior leadership roles within pubs, bars, or restaurants
* Proven ability to lead, train, and develop managers and supervisors
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Comfortable working closely with owners in a family-run business
* Ambitious, competitive, and driven to keep us ahead of the local market
* Strong food and drink knowledge, with a passion for fresh, locally sourced ingredients
* Creative, commercially minded, and able to think beyond day-to-day operations
* Hands-on, adaptable, and people-focused
