We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Operative to join the team in London. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality maintenance and repair services to our stores.
Principal Objectives:
As a Maintenance Operative, your primary objective is to execute a multi-tasking role safely and largely unsupervised. You will uphold a high standard of work, always demonstrating professionalism and courtesy.
Main Duties:
Plumbing:
1. Attend to minor leaks on hot and cold services on pipework
2. Replacement of taps/washers
3. Clearance of internal waste pipe blockages
4. Minor tile replacement and re-fixing of sanitary ware
Carpentry:
5. Ease and adjust all forms of timber or steel-framed doors
6. Fit and adjust door closure mechanisms
7. Re-hang doors
8. Fit new lock mechanisms
9. Fit shelving, repair, and adjust cabinet or locker doors
10. Replace timber decking on trolleys
Painting:
11. Office/storage decorations and touch-up work to damaged areas
12. Repainting of trolleys, bollards
13. Floor painting
Sheet Metalwork:
14. Repairs to storage units
15. Fitting replacement locks and door number plates, small external signs
16. Accident damage works, removal of dents, limited panel replacement, refitting bump strips, and unit corner protection plates
17. Re-fixing security mesh
18. De-burring of unit doors and removal of sharp edges
19. Repairs to trolleys
Electrical:
20. Change lamps & starters to storage and office areas
21. Any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager and Head of Department.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
22. Full clean driving license
23. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar maintenance role (qualifications desirable)
24. Excellent and safe driving skills, adhering to the Highway Code and driving laws
25. Understanding of basic safety rules, including the safe use of tools and safety equipment (PPE)
26. Fluent knowledge in the safe use of ladders, solvent, paint cleaners, and two-pack epoxy paints
27. Understanding of manual handling and lifting techniques
28. Ability to carry out pre-use safety inspections of tools and equipment
