Food Safety Specialist Location: Milton Keynes Hybrid 3 days in the office. Contract Type: Temporary position. ASAP start until the end of the year. Salary: PAYE up to £162.00 per day plus holiday pay. (annual salary equivalent £47,000 pa) Our client operates across an estate of over 300 company-owned and franchised stores throughout the UK. We are currently looking for a Food Safety Specialist to join the team and support food safety, technical processes and store launches across the business. This is a temporary position based in Milton Keynes to start asap until the end of the year. Youll ensure the organisation remains compliant with all relevant food safety legislation, and youll play a key part in embedding a strong food safety culture. Youll also support the launch of new stores and products, working closely with a cross-functional team. Responsibilities: As the Food Safety Specialist you will collaborate with the Technical Assistant to review and approve product specifications and artwork. Support HACCP and SERT processes across the business. Act as a subject matter expert for food and ingredient knowledge, supporting the wider development team. Review and sign off new suppliers, monitoring and feeding back on performance. Maintain up-to-date product specifications and assess potential food safety risks in the supply chain. Support the development of sourcing guidelines in collaboration with product development and marketing teams. Build strong working relationships across the end-to-end supply chain. Collaborate with suppliers of food, packaging, and equipment to ensure technical standards are met. Assist with contract management and setting KPIs for outsourced food safety or technical services. What we are looking for: Degree in Food Science or a similar discipline. HACCP Level 4 qualification and Food Safety Level 3 certification. Accredited auditing qualification or demonstrable auditing experience. In-depth understanding of sector, market trends, and competitor activity. Supplier selection, approval, and performance monitoring. Strong product knowledge across fresh food and food service. Experience with retail category sourcing and buying. Food industry, ideally within factories, food service, FMCG, or hospitality retail in a technical role. Membership of the Institute of Food Science & Technology (IFST) desirable.
