SEN Teaching Assistant SEMH Support
Location: Eastbourne
Pay: £88.92 £95 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Eastbourne. This role focuses on supporting pupils with SEMH needs and helping them re-engage with education in a safe, nurturing environment.
The Role
You will support students who may experience:
* Emotional regulation difficulties and anxiety
* Behavioural challenges
* Trauma-related experiences
* Low confidence and social interaction difficulties
The focus is on building trust, supporting emotional wellbeing, and helping students access learning in a calm and consistent environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support
* Assist pupils in managing emotions and behaviour
* Promote engagement and participation in lessons
* Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff
* Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning space
We re Looking For:
* Experience working with SEMH or vulnerable students
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude
* Confidence in supporting emotional and behavioural needs
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Additional training in mental health, trauma-informed approaches, or Team Teach is beneficial but not essential.
