Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor Location: South East (Multiple offices) Salary: Competitive Benefits Employment Type: Permanent Overview We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction and infrastructure contractor. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their commercial career to develop within a supportive team and gain exposure across the full project lifecycle. Reporting to a Quantity Surveyor / Project Surveyor / Senior QS, you will provide commercial support on projects and assist in delivering value, efficiency, and strong financial control. Key Responsibilities * Assist with procurement to ensure timely placement of subcontract orders in line with company policy. * Support the management of subcontracts including documentation, payments, and valuations. * Contribute to tender reviews, cost forecasting, and profit/loss reporting. * Prepare and check subcontractor payment applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance. * Assist in the production of main contract valuations, cash flow forecasts, and monthly commercial reports. * Maintain accurate records of site activities, variations, and contractual matters. * Support health, safety, environmental and quality compliance across projects. * Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure strong commercial outcomes. * Contribute to post-contract reviews and final account settlements. What We’re Looking For Essential: * Studying or undertaking an accredited course with RICS, CIOB, or ICES. * Alternatively, a degree (or HND) in a construction, civil engineering, or related technical/numerical subject. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Good commercial awareness and basic understanding of construction processes. * Proficient in MS Office and comfortable working with data/figures. Desirable: * Degree in Quantity Surveying with some relevant industry experience.
