About The Role
We are working with The Belfast Health and Social Care Trust to appoint a Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology to join the Department of Neurophysiology at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
This post is available on a locum or permanent basis; therefore interested candidates who require visa sponsorship may apply and there is an enhanced referral bonus available.
Neurophysiology services are provided within the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust at the Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) and the RBHSC. Cover is provided to MIH via a satellite service. The Neurophysiology Department currently employs 7.8 whole‑time equivalent (WTE) Clinical Physiologists and is supported by 3.5 WTE administrative/secretarial staff. A large percentage of the equipment has been purchased within the last two years. Annual Neurophysiology activity across the three sites includes 3,700 attendances for EEGs, PSGs, MSLTs, NCS and EMG tests, and evoked potentials. In addition there are approximately 60 video telemetry admissions.
Research and audit is actively undertaken and encouraged within the Neurophysiology Service.

The successful post holder will be responsible for the investigation, diagnosis and management of patients referred for neurophysiological testing across inpatient and outpatient settings. This includes providing expert clinical advice, supporting multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the ongoing development of neurophysiology services within the Trust.
Salary
Salary: TBC (In line with current Consultant salary scale HSC (TC8) 1/2012).
Key Responsibilities
* Performing and interpreting a wide range of neurophysiological investigations (EEG, EMG, NCS, etc.)
* Providing specialist consultation and advice to clinical teams and referring practitioners
* Contributing to departmental audit, service planning and teaching of medical and allied health staff
* Participating in the management and development of neurophysiology services across the region
Essential Criteria
* GMC registration with Licence to Practise
* MRCP(UK) or equivalent qualification
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Clinical Neurophysiology (or within 6 months of CCT)
Desirable Criteria
* A relevant specialist interest would be an advantage.
* Evidence of original work as demonstrated by publications, research and/or a higher degree.
