Overview
Senior Health Care Support Worker - Orthopaedics — NHS Scotland (NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde).
These positions are permanent with both full-time and part-time options. Salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours. The shift pattern is rotational.
An opportunity has arisen for Band 3 Health Care Support Workers within our Orthopaedic Elective/Trauma wards in RAH, Clyde. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated HCSW with effective communication skills to join our friendly team. The post offers ongoing learning opportunities to support your development.
You will be required to assist with delivering a high standard of nursing care to Orthopaedic in-patients for pre- and post-operative scheduled surgery. These posts require candidates with problem-solving skills, good listening skills and a compassionate nature. Evidence of Orthopaedic experience would be advantageous or experience in any care setting. We support a multi-disciplinary approach including nursing staff, consultants, and extended scope practitioners.
Experience within ACUTE hospital settings, venepuncture, cannulation, and NEWS monitoring would be preferred; training will be provided by Practice Educators.
Responsibilities
* Assist with delivering high standards of nursing care to Orthopaedic patients (pre- and post-operative).
* Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, and extended scope practitioners in a multidisciplinary team.
* Support assessment, monitoring, and basic clinical procedures as required (training provided).
Qualifications and Skills
* Enthusiastic, motivated HCSW with effective communication skills.
* Problem-solving abilities and good listening skills.
* Evidence of Orthopaedic experience is advantageous; experience in any care setting is acceptable.
* Ability to work in a rotating shift pattern and within an acute hospital environment.
