FP&A Manager | £60,000 - £70,000 | Chelmsford | Hybrid | Transport and Infrastructure Business
A dynamic and growing transport and infrastructure business is seeking a commercially astute Head of FP&A to lead its financial planning, forecasting, and analysis activities. This is a pivotal role, partnering with executive and operational teams to drive informed decision-making and support sustainable business growth.
The Role
As Head of FP&A, you will own the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes, delivering actionable insights to the leadership team. You will oversee financial modelling, scenario analysis, and business case development for new projects and investments, ensuring robust financial governance and value creation. The role will also involve leading and developing a small FP&A team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-term strategic planning processes.
* Provide insightful financial analysis, scenario modelling, and variance reporting to support business performance and strategic decisions.
* Partner with operational and commercial teams to evaluate business cases, capital investments, and new initiatives.
* Develop and maintain financial models to assess the impact of changes in passenger numbers, commercial revenues, and operational costs.
* Deliver clear, concise financial presentations and reports to senior management and the Board.
* Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and impact of FP&A outputs.
* Oversee the preparation of cash flow forecasts and support liquidity management.
* Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.
* Mentor, coach, and develop the FP&A team, supporting their professional growth.
* Act as a key business partner to the CFO and deputise as required.
About You
* Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
* Strong track record of financial planning, budgeting, and analysis in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment-ideally within transport, infrastructure, or related sectors.
* Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; experience with reporting and analytics tools.
* Excellent communication and business partnering skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-finance audiences.
* Commercially minded, proactive, and comfortable working at pace to tight deadlines.
* Strong leadership skills, with experience developing and motivating high-performing teams.
* Analytical, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
