Brightpoint Community College invites applications for the position of Dean of Academic Innovation and Partnerships. This role provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the College’s digital education ecosystem and external academic pipelines. The Dean is responsible for ensuring the quality and growth of Distance Education, advancing the professional development of faculty and staff through the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), and managing strategic K–12 partnerships, including dual and concurrent enrollment and the Career and Education Consortium (CEC). The Dean also serves as a member of the Academic Affairs Leadership Team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership and Digital Learning
8. Serve as the College's primary expert on Distance Education trends, pedagogy, technology, and assessment. Provide vision for the expansion and improvement of online programs and courses, and hybrid offerings. Serve as Brightpoint’s liaison/POC with VCCS system office and other colleges on initiatives to improve, expand, and review distance education programs.
9. Supervise the LMS Administrator and Instructional Designer to ensure a high-quality, accessible user experience for students and faculty, and compliance with applicable federal regulations, accreditation standards, and NC-SARA requirements.
Faculty Development and Instructional Excellence
10. Provide administrative oversight for the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), ensuring professional development aligns with VCCS and institutional goals and modern pedagogical standards.
11. Support the Coordinator of Professional Development in managing part-time professional development staff, faculty fellows, and other related part-time positions.
Academic Partnerships and Dual Enrollment
12. Provide administrative oversight for dual and concurrent enrollment, supervising the Coordinator and ensuring sustainable enrollment and program growth through efficient, effective processes; supporting professional development to ensure high-quality instruction by appropriately credentialed faculty; and promoting student success in alignment with VCCS and institutional goals and policies.
13. Provide administrative oversight for the CEC, supervising the Coordinator and ensuring mutually beneficial and sustainable partnerships with K-12 that promote student success.
Compliance and Operations
14. Ensure institutional compliance with NC-SARA regulations and state/federal distance education laws.
15. Manage budgets for all reporting departments and lead assessment/accreditation efforts related to distance learning and off-campus instructional sites.
Minimum Qualifications:
16. Education: Master’s degree required in Educational Leadership, Instructional Technology, or a related academic discipline.
17. Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive leadership in an educational environment. Higher education teaching experience preferred.
18. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Deep familiarity with distance learning and related technologies. Ability to interpret, implement, and support continued compliance with applicable federal, state, system, and college policies, regulations, and legislation. Exceptional communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills. Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the community college mission.
Successful completion and passing of a background check is required.Additional Considerations:
19. Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Instructional Technology, or a related academic discipline.
20. Progressive leadership in higher education within distance education or academic affairs.
21. Experience teaching in a community college or multi-campus higher education environment.
