Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a flexible and motivated Registered Nurse to join our team within the Urology Outpatients services. The role involves working within the outpatient clinics assisting the Urologists with their diagnosis by undertaking various Urological procedures. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside the specialist nurses within the department, assisting with many day case procedures and attending focus groups. The Clinic nurse will be expected to support patients and carers and provide the relevant written patient information. These clinics care for patients with both benign and malignant Urological conditions. Catheterisation is a requirement of the role and competence in this is an advantage but training will be given to the suitable candidate. Self and department development is important and the successful candidate must be willing to partake in further development both educationally and clinically, and play an active role in the further development of the department including nurse led clinics. You will be expected to guide junior members of the team and mentor students within the department.
Main duties of the job
* Organising and running the consultant urologist outpatient clinics
* Assisting and chaperoning the Urologist
* Undertaking procedures including flow rate studies, bladder scan, bloods, catheterisation
* Providing information to patients and carers
* Mentoring students and supervising junior staff
* Assisting the CNSs in Day Case procedures within the department
* Taking an active part in further development of the department
* A clinical practitioner who is developing their expertise within their speciality

Job Description and Person Specification
Essential Knowledge and Experience: NMC Registered Nurse; evidence of post-registration qualification/education to diploma/degree; previous healthcare experience; commitment to continuing professional development; awareness of current issues within nursing, midwifery and the wider NHS.
* The ability to communicate with patients and their families/carers during a highly stressful time, with adaptable communication strategies
* Accuracy and clarity in verbal, written and electronic communication; appropriate information storage
* The ability to perform urology-related procedures (e.g., flow studies, catheterisation, bladder scanning, taking bloods)
* Judgment skills for investigation, analysis and discharge suitability
* Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical care
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high-quality nursing/midwifery service
* Personal duty of care for safe use of equipment and resources
Qualifications: Diploma level or equivalent; Registered Nurse/ Midwife (NMC Registration).
* Desirable: Mentor Qualification; Leadership Qualification
