We specialise in food & beverage and renewable energy, with fantastic clients in other areas too, including purpose-driven campaigns. We deliver a range of communications services including social media and influencer, PR and media relations, and campaigns. The ideal candidate has strong media relations, campaign, social media & influencer skills.
Job purpose
To have the skills to drive an account and to be a capable and confident operator who has a thorough understanding of the required media and communication skills, to be fully in control of the media tools available to create the required media coverage in all PR areas. To take responsibility for managing, planning, executing and achieving results with the team, reporting into an Account Director or Director as appropriate, working across both our food & beverage and renewable energy teams and across a range of other clients (B2B and B2C).
Skill requirements & frequency of duties
Daily
·Play a key role in securing new business for the company, from initial research through to approaching targets, plus preparing and presenting proposals and being a key contact for new business leads
·Play the central role in the team and take full responsibility for your clients and any problems
·Proof read all written material
·Implement and supervise progress of PR campaigns, including delivery against KPIs
·Complete understanding of how traditional media and social media works in the areas in which you operate - the opportunities available and building relationships with journalists and creators
·Alert clients to PR risk or opportunities presented by broader areas of corporate responsibility, e.g. employment practices, health and safety at work
Meetings
·To lead meetings. Ensuring that preparation for the meeting is well organised and that account directors or seniors are fully briefed on meeting contents
·Taking a key role in presentations to existing client and at new business pitches
·Start to understand all budgeting procedures and have complete financial control on all clients, projects etc. including mark-up rules and managing job-bags to ensure that all rechargeable items are included
·To motivate and supervise your team, including handling internal issues and problems before escalating to senior directors
·Amending and improving press releases, internal copy for newsletters etc. drafted by account managers and account executives, and having final approval prior to sending to client
·Writing all day-to-day material for clients including press releases, features, statements, social media content, e-newsletters and blogs
Media Skills
·Pro-actively seeking and identifying publicity opportunities to ensure that the maximum level of coverage / reach is achieved for your client and projects
·Proactively looking for opportunities to grow the media horizons of the client
Monthly / regularly
General Skills
·Lead new business brainstorms and have a creative input in all new business pitches
·Mature ability to brief designers, photographers, printers in a knowledgeable and precise manner, negotiate costs etc., and manage quality control deadline problems
·Writing material for clients including Q&As, speeches, presentations, award entries
·Responsible for all campaign evaluation reports for existing clients
· Capable of writing first stage creative new business proposals with direction from senior directors
Media Skills
·Planning and driving the media relations programme for all clients as laid out in the agreed programme of activity, reporting to your senior director as required
·Overseeing the management and organisation of events ranging from workshops, photocalls, press conferences, webinars, stakeholder consultations, training days etc. on behalf of clients
·Planning and negotiating major media promotions, and overseeing the implementation of more standard media promotional activity by the team, such as competitions, influencer partnerships, sampling offers, free for every reader offers
·Commissioning and analysing research including surveys and focus groups, and leading the media roll-out to achieve maximum coverage.
·Lead on advising on media handling including interview briefings, developing Q&A’s, exclusives, embargoes and damage limitations
Annually / occasionally
·Use relevant business contacts to add value to client programmes
·Responsible for annual campaign evaluations for existing clients and developing, structuring and writing creative annual plans
·Select and develop sponsorships and celebrity endorsements including planning, contractual agreements and activity organisation
·Liaising with senior directors on strategic issues and media handling issues, including crisis management and advising client as appropriate

Knowledge
Solid knowledge/keen interest in PR
Proficient in Word, Excel & PowerPoint & other Microsoft Applications
