About The Role FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Network Support Engineer to work for our client in the Financial Services sector. This is a 6‑month FTC with strong potential for extension. The role will be hybrid and based in Edinburgh. Our client requires an experienced engineer to provide technical administration, incident resolution and operational support across a broad range of hardware and software. You will work extensively with networking technologies including firewalls, routers and switches, ensuring infrastructure remains stable, secure and high‑performing for business users. Responsibilities: Identify and resolve network issues following agreed procedures Carry out network maintenance and ensure systems meet business expectations Prioritise and diagnose incidents, investigate root causes and drive effective resolutions Escalate unresolved incidents and support recovery activities Produce clear documentation and ensure accurate closure of incident tickets Provide technical support aligned with industry best practices Contribute to service improvements and innovation initiatives Support projects and take part in Disaster Recovery testing About You Background in 2nd and 3rd line IT Support Strong understanding of networking principles including OSI, TCP/IP and Ethernet CCNA or CCNP certification, or equivalent hands‑on experience Experience with network security, firewalls, proxy servers and load balancers Working knowledge of routing protocols such as EIGRP and BGP Knowledge of VOIP (SIP) technologies Experience with VMware, Unix, enterprise storage and performance or capacity monitoring Understanding of backup and recovery tools, enterprise back‑office systems and process automation Awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies About Us We are a business and technology consultancy and one of the UKs leading employers, recruiting the brightest talent to become the innovators of tomorrow.
