The Role
As a Personal CareAssistant, you’ll be part of our client’s dedicated support team, providingessential care in their home. You’ll be employed by HomeCareDirect but willfocus solely on supporting this client.
This role is to providepersonalised complex care for our client in his own home in Norwich. Offering24hrs a week on 12-hour shifts which will be 08:00 - 20:00, 09:00 - 21:00 or20:30 – 08:30.You will work on aflexible rota across all days to ensure continuity of care.
About the Client & YourResponsibilities
Our client is a gentleman inhis 50's who has diabetes and whose condition of MS has progressed, which bothneed to be monitored on a regular basis. He suffers from chronic pain andmemory loss and requires support in all aspects of mobility and daily livingincluding personal/continence care which includes catheter care, PEG feeding,blood glucose monitoring and medication administration.
Other duties include ensuringproper hydration, bathing, performing general domestic tasks, accompanying himto appointments, following SALT and continence guidelines, and collaboratingclosely with other team members.
Requirements
Training & Support
We provide comprehensive,paid training (to CQC standards) before your start date, covering:
* Full induction
* Safeguarding Adults
* Moving & Handling / FallsAwareness
* Medication Care Needs / BloodGlucose Monitoring
* Diabetes Awareness / MentalHealth / Multiple Sclerosis
All training must be completedprior to start date and is paid at minimum wage.
Who We’re Looking For
* It is preferable that you havecare experience due to our clients’ complex needs, however our dedicated nursefor this package will provide training and support
* Knowledge and experience ofdiabetes and MS
* Our client has a Labrador, soyou should be comfortable around dogs as you will need to help care for her andbe happy to take her for walks
* Driver with a full UK drivinglicence as this role will include driving our client to appointments
* You must be comfortable in asmoking environment as our client is a smoker
