Background Information
The Park Centre is a community resource that provides a range of services, activities and meeting spaces for people of all ages in its neighbourhood. Our aim is to provide recreational, learning, business and social activities, which are accessible and affordable and meet our charitable aims.
Purpose of the Role
The Centre Manager will play a key leadership role in the smooth running, development and growth of The Park Centre, working closely with the Board of Trustees. The postholder will oversee all staff across departments, ensuring effective coordination, strong performance and a positive working environment. They will help ensure the Centre remains a vibrant, well‑managed and sustainable community facility that meets local needs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Management of the Community Centre
* Oversee day-to-day operations, staff and delivery of activities in line with the business plan
* Ensure compliance with employment law, policies and best practice
* Support strategic planning and report regularly to the Board
* Oversee building maintenance and improvements
* Contribute to funding applications and income generation
* Ensure health & safety, risk assessments, safeguarding and GDPR compliance
* Maintain and promote a programme of activities aligned with community needs
Management of Staff and Volunteers
* Lead and support all staff and volunteers across departments
* Create a positive, inclusive working environment
* Oversee recruitment, supervision and development
* Ensure collaborative and safe working practices
* Manage complaints procedures appropriately
Payroll, HR and Recruitment Support
* Process timesheets, rotas and holiday records
* Support payroll preparation and maintain HR documentation
* Coordinate recruitment processes including advertising, shortlisting and interviews
* Support onboarding and induction of new staff
Finance, Banking and Invoicing
* Support payroll processing and HMRC submissions
* Reconcile transactions and monitor cash flow
* Track petty cash and maintain financial records
Working with Others
* Represent the Centre at meetings and events
* Build relationships with partners and the local community
* Ensure services reflect community needs
* Prepare reports and attend Board and AGM meetings
Project and Financial Oversight
* Support delivery of projects and services
* Monitor impact and ensure compliance with objectives
* Liaise with project leads and partners
* Work with the Treasurer on budgets and financial planning
The Park Centre Kingswood has a small team, and it is expected that the postholder will be flexible in assisting in areas of work which go beyond their main duties. In particular, the holder of this post will be expected to assist with covering frontline reception and administrative duties, helping to plan, organise and attend events which may fall outside normal working hours.
