The Dreaming is an innovating and inspiring, wellness retreat that is nestled in the heart of the beautiful Nant Caethon Valley, Mid Wales. It is a place to rest, restore, be playful & connect with nature. We have recently had the privilege of welcoming our very first guests, to explore and absorb the magic of The Dreaming.
Overview of the role:
An Exciting opportunity has opened up to join our vibrant team of mystical beings as
Chef/Catering assistant.
The successful candidate will be working with fresh seasonal produce and have the opportunity to cook seed to plate dishes for our guests. You will assist our Head Chef create both vibrant and nourishing cuisine in accordance with the seasons. However, during summer months, you will be working with fresh organic produce grown in our very own permaculture garden. You will not just be joining a team, you will be joining a community of people who aim to restore the connection we have to ourselves, each other and the world in the most magical of surroundings. Your main responsibility is to provide our community a healthy and nourishing menu on a Friday when our Head Chef is off but you will also be expected to keep the kitchen clean, well stocked and in full working order.Feasting and ceremony is an integral part of the experience at The Dreaming, and you will understand the importance of providing food that nourishes the body, soul and mind.You must have experience in a similar role with knowledge of the above. We want someone creative, nurturing and technically fantastic with experience of working with mainly a Vegan/vegetarian menu to support our vision.
Accountable to: Head Chef
Working closely with: CEO, Master Horticulturalist, General Manager.
Job Description:
* Chef/Catering assistant
* £13.00 per hour
* 7 hours cover, weekly on a Tuesday: 2pm - 9pm and occasional weekend.
Requirements:
* Must have at least 2 years culinary experience running a kitchen
* Must hold up to date Food Hygiene certificate and be familiar with current health and safety regulations.
* Must be able to commute to and from place of work.
* Retreat experience ideal but not necessary.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare and deliver high quality meals and refreshments to our guests
* Monitor and adapt the menu for allergies/needs of our guests
* Create a preparation list for culinary team
* Liaise with Head Chef to maintain food costing and inventory
* Maintain high standards of food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance
* Ensure thorough compliance with health codes and regulation
