Overview
Transmission Network Technical Services Graduate Programme. Duration: 2 years commencing September 2026. Location: Perth or Dundee. Salary: Circa £34,000 per annum plus other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing. Degree Disciplines: Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Security requirement: Candidates must obtain SC level vetting through the UK Government (normally 5 years UK residency).
Responsibilities
As a Network Technical Services graduate, you will follow a specialist pathway, working with experts in your field and gaining exposure within a business area for the duration of the programme with the aim of providing experience that will lead to a substantive post. You will contribute to the safe and secure operation of the electrical network by developing expertise in Protection and SCADA systems, overseeing assets throughout their lifecycle, and applying hands-on skills during commissioning and fault rectification activities within the Operations team. You will work on high-profile transmission projects to enable transmission of clean renewable energy in a safe, efficient and reliable manner.
What do I need?
* A minimum of a 2:2 bachelor’s degree in Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
* Practical work experience in the energy sector and experience of working in a team.
* Ability to set and pursue stretching targets, use initiative to overcome challenges, and a genuine interest in SSEN Transmission and a long-term future with the organisation.
Recruitment process

If you progress, you’ll be invited to attend an Assessment Day (expected January/February 2026) and will need to confirm attendance by a specified date.
