Overview

Keoghs are looking for counter fraud lawyers to join our market leading team. Our counter-fraud team is the largest and longest-established in the UK. We maintain a down-to-earth working environment whilst not compromising on the delivery of legal excellence.

We work with a range of household name insurers, defeating dishonest motor claims and innovating strategies to identify and prevent new and emerging risks. You will work alongside a team of fraud specialists, running a caseload of suspected fraud files acting without any delegated authority. You will be encouraged to collaborate to achieve the best possible results in a commercially sound manner.

Our counter fraud lawyers apply both a forensic and analytical approach to dealing with evidence. They work with strategic foresight to ensure all litigation and opportunities are taken in order to work towards shaping the future of the counter-fraud arena.


Responsibilities

* Run hourly rate, fraud cases from the point of litigation through to the resolution of the case.
* Handle a caseload of suspected fraudulent insurance claims including: Bogus Passenger, Staged/Contrived, Fraudulent Exaggeration, Induced accidents, Low Speed Impact, Late Notification Claims, Credit Hire Fraud, MIB, Linked & Organised Crime.
* Detailed review and analysis of evidence throughout the life of the case.
* Set and agree case strategy with clients, ensuring adherence to any KYO or generic strategies.
* Identify strategic litigation opportunities and complex cases when appropriate.
* Identify client trends and opportunities to raise profile with clients.
* Handle files in accordance with client guidelines on a non-delegated basis.
* Ensure maximum client satisfaction and timely completion of all client and internal MI.
* Report to insurer clients throughout the lifetime of the claim.
* Collaborate with involved parties to carry out agreed investigations to meet the set strategy.
* Comply with procedural and investigative deadlines; achieve the best result in litigation, protecting the client’s position, and undertaking advocacy where required and cost-effective.
* Proactively manage case investigations and strategy from receipt to resolution.
* Delegate tasks to assistants when appropriate and maintain Case Management Systems from opening to closure.
* Adhere to file management policies and SRA Standards & Regulations.
* Maintain commercial awareness to retain profitability and achieve financial targets.
* Ensure timely and accurate billing.


Working hours

35 hours per week. Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location Bolton, Parklands Office. We are agile workers with attendance at our offices at least 1 day a week.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

* Experience in civil litigation claims handling / as a legal File Handler or suitably qualified (ILEX, LPC etc.).
* Experience in handling linked and organised fraud is desirable but not essential.
* Experience with RTA pre-litigated and/or litigated caseload.
* Understanding of insurance litigation practice and processes, together with indemnity principles.
* Knowledge of the litigation process and CPR.
* Good advocacy skills and client care skills with evidence of working to client guidelines.
* High level analytical skills; excellent listening, verbal and written communication.
* Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and work under pressure; anticipate problems and identify solutions.
* Experience of time recording and billing systems; excellent IT skills.
