Job Description:
We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) to join the Maternity team.
We are a consultant-led maternity unit with approximately 1200 deliveries per year.
The maternity unit comprises the Maternity Assessment Unit, a 2-bed assessment area, and the Birthing Suite, which has 6 en-suite bedrooms, 2 with birthing pools, and a bereavement suite. The maternity ward includes 12 en-suite bedrooms with home comforts. Our team prides itself on delivering family-centred, evidence-based antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, support, and education to families.
The wards operate on a 12-hour shift pattern, covering 24 hours a day. The HCSW role is varied, supporting women and families during antenatal, intrapartum, theatre duties, and postnatal periods, including supporting parenting skills. Responsibilities include ensuring the ward is stocked, clean, tidy, and prepared for emergencies, offering women drinks, meals, and linen changes. Staff will be supported to develop skills in observations, theatre duties, parenting education, feeding support, and delivering family-centred care.
This is an exciting time to work in Dumfries and Galloway as we implement the Best Start recommendations using improvement methodology.
Please Note: The salary for this vacancy does not meet the minimum required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker Visa.
