Visualisation Software Engineering Apprentice – Join the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) at the Hartree Centre. You’ll develop interactive graphics and immersive visualisations that make complex data clear, compelling and accessible.
Contract Type: Fixed‑Term, 48 months
Salary: £24,340 per annum (rising annually)
Hours: Full‑time, 37 hours
Location: Hartree Centre, Sci‑Tech Daresbury, Keckwick, Warrington, WA4 4AD

Training Provider
Manchester Metropolitan University – Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship (in‑person, one day a week)
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
* High‑level demonstrations to VIPs using cinema presentation rooms
* Application development for VR and AR platforms
* Core software engineering with object‑oriented programming (OOP) mentoring
* 3D modelling of scientific data for public engagement
* Technical documentation and reporting
Entry Requirements
* GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above)
* Minimum 104 UCAS tariff points at A Level (x 3 subjects grades BCC or above) or equivalent Level 3 qualification
* Maths and/or Computing Science at A Level or equivalent
* Basic health and safety awareness
* Enthusiasm and motivation for learning
* Strong interest in technology, computing and scientific research
* Awareness of computer operating systems
* Experience with any programming language
* Problem‑solving enthusiasm for game engines and 3D modelling technologies
Important Information
* Evidence of GCSE Maths and English grades A*-C required; predicted grades needed for summer 2026 sitters.
* Achievement or prediction of 104 UCAS points by September 2026 required.
