Job Introduction
As a Paediatric Speech & Language Therapy Assistant, you will work in the North East Surrey area, supporting children with a wide range of communication needs under the direction of a qualified Speech and Language Therapist. This role involves delivering tailored therapy programmes, collaborating with a multidisciplinary paediatric team, and engaging in ongoing training and supervision.

Main Responsibilities
* Deliver therapy programmes (individual and group) under Guidance of a Speech and Language Therapist, using evidence‑based, child‑centred approaches.
* Support and advise parents, carers, and education staff, communicating complex and sensitive information clearly and empathetically.
* Assist in assessing children’s needs, contributing to reports, reviews, and diagnosis, and sharing findings with relevant professionals.
* Manage and prioritise a caseload, responding to referrals and adapting plans to meet individual needs.
* Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, attending meetings and supporting inter‑agency communication and referrals.
* Monitor progress and adjust therapy plans in conjunction with the Speech and Language Therapist.
* Deliver training and presentations to families, schools, and colleagues where required.
* Ensure safe use and maintenance of therapy equipment and contribute to a well‑organised clinical environment.
* Participate in supervision, training, service development, and continuous professional development.
Ideal Candidate
Essential Qualifications
* GCSE English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
* Relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g. BTEC/NVQ) or working towards
* Experience (paid or voluntary) with pre‑school children and/or relevant client groups
* Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
* Knowledge of the client group and basic clinical/report writing skills
* Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
* Ability to work independently, problem‑solve, and manage/priorise workload
* Flexible approach and ability to respond to changing demands
* Willingness to learn and demonstrate ongoing professional development
* Ability to analyse information, make informed judgments, and manage risk with supervision
* Capacity to self‑evaluate and seek guidance appropriately
* Ability to contribute to training and team activities
Desirable Qualifications
* Understanding of the range of Speech and Language Therapy offered for children and the role of the SLT assistant within the NHS and Education settings
* Specific SLT training e.g. ELKLAN, Makaton etc
