Job summary
The post holder will be a registered Occupational Therapist responsible for clients allocated to them and will work autonomously to assess, manage, plan and deliver care, including being professionally and legally accountable.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work collaboratively with family/carers and all agencies involved in the child's care across private and public sectors.
Support the specialist OT/PT community therapy team and work autonomously as an effective team member.
Provide Occupational Therapy to children and young people aged 0-19 in various settings, such as homes, nurseries, mainstream, and special schools.

Probationary Period: This role includes a probation period, with exemptions for internal applicants. High Cost Area Supplement - London: 15% of basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and a maximum of £5,735 annually (pro-rata).
Certificates of Sponsorship: As a registered sponsor, eligibility under the UKVI points-based system should be checked.
Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct assessments and contribute to diagnosis based on clinical findings.
* Develop and implement individualized intervention plans with children and families.
* Organize and prioritize own workload and delegate appropriately to therapy assistants.
* Adhere to Trust protocols and maintain accurate records as per guidelines.
* Manage risks effectively, including incident reporting and risk assessments.
Clinical Skills
Act as an autonomous, registered practitioner accountable for service delivery, referrals, evidence-based practice, and comprehensive assessments.
Develop child-centered intervention programs, educate children and carers, and modify interventions as needs change.
Coordinate cases, assess equipment needs, and manage caseload independently.
Work in challenging environments and maintain clinical competence through CPD activities.
Communication
Maintain excellent communication with clients, families, and professionals, attending multidisciplinary meetings and handling complaints sensitively.
Training
Mentor students, support team development, and undertake ongoing professional development and mandatory training.
Leadership
Contribute to team development, promote integrated working, supervise therapy assistants and students, and participate in audits and service development.
Computer/Administration
Ensure accurate record-keeping, support team activities, and manage delegated responsibilities.
Use of AI

Person Specification
Professional registration
* HCPC registered as an OT
* In process of HCPC registration
* RCOT registered with paediatric interest
Knowledge of child development
* Basic knowledge and relevant short courses in child development or paediatric OT.
Working with children
* Minimum 3 months OT experience in any setting or clinical placements in paediatric OT.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role requires a DBS check due to the nature of work with children.
Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 per year plus HCAS.
