Main Purpose of Post:
Social Workers are staff within the social care sector responsible for meeting statutory obligations under the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and others.
The role involves assessing, risk assessing, and providing services to children and their families, aiming to keep children in their families whenever possible. When risk cannot be managed, developing plans to keep children safe and support their full potential, adhering to relevant legislation, regulations, and policies.
The social worker's duties include providing services to children and young people to ensure safety and promote achievement within legally permanent settings, working as part of a team, undertaking duty tasks, and maintaining effective relationships with colleagues and partners. They must identify risks, ensure safeguarding, and promote holistic assessments, resource allocation, equality, social inclusion, and collaboration with other agencies.
Experience:
Experience in needs assessment and risk identification.
Knowledge:
Understanding of service users' needs, current legislation, national guidance, social care needs of children and families.
Registrations, Qualifications & Training:
Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent; Registration with Social Care Wales.
Skills:
Strong communication skills, caseload management, commitment to equal opportunities, confidentiality, and social care principles.
