Are you a physiotherapist with a specialist interest in influencing service delivery within Orthopaedics?
The inpatient orthopaedic physiotherapy team is looking for a Clinical Specialist to lead, showcase, and develop the current service to respond to evolving needs. The team provides high-quality, evidence-based care across elective, trauma, and our dedicated hip fracture ward. You will also have the opportunity to provide orthopaedic physiotherapy services to paediatric cases.
While the core orthopaedic service is based at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, the team covers elective day surgery at Queen Margaret in Dunfermline. Both locations are accessible from Lothian, Forth Valley, Dundee, and Perth, with car sharing often available. Working with the Team Lead, you will ensure high standards of service provision, adapting to changes needed to support service demands while adhering to local and national standards and guidelines. You will participate in local and national projects, research, audits, and lead quality improvement initiatives to ensure continuous service development.
The most significant recent change to NHS Fife orthopaedic services has been the opening of the National Treatment Centre in March 2023, as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. You will be an integral part of the wider orthopaedic team, contributing to services over 7 days, including evening shifts. You should be highly motivated, with a passion and specialist clinical knowledge in orthopaedics, and willing to share this through education and training within the multidisciplinary team. A desire to lead service improvement and an understanding of leadership within a team setting are essential. The department is committed to training future clinicians, and you will be actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education.
We offer development opportunities such as clinic and theatre visits, peer review, and clinical supervision/teaching. NHS Fife considers flexible working requests and can fund external courses. You will receive regular appraisals, PDP meetings, and access to excellent peer and management support.
