CAMHS Clinical Lead: NELFT Community Eating Disorders Service
We are looking for a full‑time Clinical Lead who is a systemic psychotherapist with substantial experience treating eating disorders to join the well‑established NELFT London Community Eating Disorder Service.
The successful candidate will lead the development of the service, shape clinical pathways, and work closely with the Strategic Lead, Team Manager, CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrists and senior clinical colleagues to deliver a high quality, inclusive, and supportive service for CYP and their families.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless they are currently part way through a probationary period or a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
All new starters join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and equipment allocation. Induction occurs at the head office in Rainham, Essex, and includes opportunities to meet the executive team, senior managers and attend drop‑in sessions on engagement, health and wellbeing.
High‑Cost Area Supplement – Outer London
This post attracts a High‑Cost Area Supplement of 15 % of basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and maximum of £5,735, pro‑rata for part‑time staff.
Responsibilities
1. In collaboration with the NELFT EDS Service Lead and senior clinical and medical colleagues, provide leadership, promote initiative, creativity and motivation to ensure staff personal development and training needs are addressed.
2. Coordinate the implementation of service developments and changes, ensuring that all operational implications are considered and disruption to services is minimised.
3. Participate or lead in the development of an effective team and the cultivation of productive working relationships throughout the Trust.
4. Actively promote integrated health professional working internally and externally.
5. Facilitate the development of a positive and supportive team culture by managing potential conflict effectively.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide clinical leadership and quality control to ensure adherence to evidence‑based models in eating disorders, supporting ongoing therapist development.
2. Set, implement and evaluate clear, achievable and measurable objectives for the Eating Disorders Service in collaboration with service lead, manager, consultant psychiatrists and pathway leads.
3. Maintain organisational knowledge of Trust protocols, procedures and safeguarding policies.
4. Ensure advanced knowledge of risk management at the team level through accident/incident reporting, risk assessment and control, and record residual risks in the Trust register.
5. Lead initiatives to keep the team inclusive, well‑supervised, and well‑supported, providing development opportunities.
Clinical Skills
* Post‑graduate qualified systemic psychotherapist fully registered with UKCP or AFT. Dual qualifications (e.g., clinical/counselling psychology, social work, nursing) are welcomed.
* Accountable for service delivery via NICE‑compliant pathways for eating disorders.
* Capable of assessing and developing complex care plans for clients with a variety of conditions.
* Provide clients and families with information and education to promote meaningful choices that support dignity, independence and quality of life.
* Practice is supported by research, evidence‑based practice, literature and peer review.
