We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to work for an established engineering company based on the outskirts of Southampton.
The role will be to ensure that diesel pumps, plant, machinery and equipment are maintained, serviced and repaired in line with company guidelines. There will also be a need to rectify and fabricate equipment and parts to improve performance and ensure that paperwork is completed to reflect this.
Duties:. Carry out PDI's and servicing of all equipment and update records. Diagnose and rectify technical faults and breakdowns. Support lean practices and continuous improvement practices. Supporting the site teams on breakdowns and any deliveries. Ensuring that machinery logs and Health & Safety practices are followed at all times. Be willing to support the teams on site in certain situations. Flexibility and able to assist on call-outs when required covering all hours (additional pay rates will apply).
Requirements & Experience:. Relevant experience in a mechanical based role, ideally with a relevant NVQ/C&G qualification. Experience of a workshop based role and diesel engines. A full UK driving license. An understanding of basic electrical systems and engineering techniques. Candidates must be physically fit & able due to the nature of the role and be aware that the role will involve working in the yard as well as the workshop. The role would suit a candidate with a military or engineering background within diesel fitting and general maintenance.
This permanent role will have core hours Monday-Friday with the flexibility to assist in certain circumstances over normal hours to support operational needs. The salary range is dependent on experience + overtime when required. Company pension, site parking, bonuses and additional payments including call-out and overtime.
