Frontier is an independent video game developer and publisher, crafting immersive gaming experiences with fun gameplay and unparalleled artistic quality. Renowned for its iconic simulation games, Frontier captivates players worldwide with immersive and authentic game worlds. The studio is located in Cambridge, UK.

Given the nature of this role, the successful candidate will need to be fully studio based; remote or hybrid working is not available. We offer relocation support if you need to move.

WHAT'S THE ROLE?

We’re looking for an aspiring Audio Programmer to join our Audio Tech team and contribute to the technical solutions that realise the audio design in our games.

With support and mentoring from the team, you’ll create and maintain technology such as tools to create and verify audio assets, pipelines to get audio into the game and runtime hooks to trigger and manage audio.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

* Creating technology that translates in‑game action into beautiful audio
* Ensuring audio design requirements are supported in tools, pipelines and runtime systems
* Maintaining and extending existing audio technology as requirements change
* Developing your skills in code quality and performance through supervised delivery


WHAT YOU'LL BRING

* Good knowledge of programming languages such as C++, C# or Python to write clear audio code
* Enthusiasm for the unique challenges of implementing interactive audio
* Some appreciation of hardware constraints on technical solutions
* Team player with the drive to learn quickly and take feedback from more experienced audio team members
* Good listening skills and sonic awareness
* Ability to identify problems and challenges with assigned work and seek support from team members when required


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

* A degree in a relevant discipline with exposure to audio programming
* Some knowledge of engines such as Wwise
