Senior Communications and Policy Manager – Interim opportunity
Location: Solihull – 2 days office/3 days home
Salary: Up to £70,000 (can be day rate equivalent or as FTC)
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced communications specialist, working in a role that makes a real impact within an organization at the forefront of skills for a greener world.
Our client is the voice of the sector, collaborating with members, government, and regulators to address skills challenges in the utilities sector. They offer membership, assurance, and skills solutions to help employers attract, develop, and maintain a skilled workforce.
As the Senior Communications and Policy Manager, you will work at the Group level, reporting to the CEO, and liaising with sales, membership, marketing teams, and other senior stakeholders to create and deliver a robust communications plan for the new five-year strategy launching in October. You will work with high-level stakeholders, including government leaders.
Responsibilities include:
* Developing and implementing external and internal communications plans.
* Creating strategic communications, thought leadership, white papers, speaking opportunities, and media coverage.
* Delivering the communications plan across web, video, social media, PR, and events.
* Managing policy documents, consultation responses, and policy inquiries.
* Preparing communication materials for political conferences and networking events.
* Managing the company's positioning and responses to skills and sector policy at various government levels, ensuring message consistency.
Experience and background required:
* Experience in a senior communications and policy role.
* Background in public sector, utilities, independent training providers, or similar; experience with awarding organizations is a plus.
* Experience in external communications, external affairs, and/or policy.
* Ability to present and speak at high-profile events, including government briefings.
* Influential with strong relationship-building skills.
* Availability to work from Solihull office two days a week with travel flexibility.
This role is initially an interim position for about six months, available as a fixed-term contract or day rate freelancer, with potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
