Principal Architect - Metasearch
As a Principal Architect, you will coach senior ICs in their leadership skills and interface with executive leadership. You can effectively translate vague business requirements into projects ready for delegation to developers and engineers. You will also assist with the group's day-to-day architecture tasks where needed.
Who you are:
* 12+ years for Bachelor's / 10+ years for Master's
* Participated in peer’s performance reviews by providing technical assessment and feedback.
* Defined software engineering/architecture best practices at a department/organizational level.
* Bachelor's or equivalent experience. Technical degree preferred.
* Functional/ Technical Skills
* Establishes approaches to solving technical opportunities that interact across a business unit
* Understanding of systems being created across EG and how own business unit would integrate with them
* Able to understand and design highly complex systems
* Makes choices across teams to apply a number of technologies or languages

* Guide others to make well-defined technology choices
* Understands how large organizations interact
What you'll do:
* Partners with technologists across all of EG to collaboratively solve problems.
* Supports and informs EG technologists via a community of practice.
* Builds relationships with leaders across the organization to understand business problems and apply a technology lens to solve them.
* Collectively design a technology stack that is tied to business outcomes and our bottom line.
* Combines and shares knowledge and skills in more than one functional area to promote effectiveness in the department or business unit/function.
* Provides active mentorship and rising talent identification.
* Recognized ability to fill in for peer engineers as need arises in setting technical next steps in co-ordination with engineering management.
* Develops north star vision for domain in which they are focused.
* Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends integration of the appropriate systems, applications and technology to provide a fully functional solution to a business problem.
* Coordinate, review and approve solutions to ensure that they are compliant with architectural standards, policies and guidelines.
* Leads collaboration with key stakeholders and contributes subject matter expertise to develop unique solutions to complex issues.
* Enables optimum organizational efficiency by taking a whole systems approach and thinking across boundaries to identify which polices/processes should be standardized and which should differ.
* Provides guidance when evaluating the impacts of a solution to ensure linkages between structure, people, process and technology.
* Can identify when new trends may be too disruptive for a reasonable implementation or spot the ephemerality of new trends.
* Champions prioritized initiatives across the company. Ensures documentation is succinct and correct.
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $221,000 to $309,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $353,500, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
