As we grow our commercial expertise, we’re looking for an individual to be the strategic lead on developing and embedding best practice in commercial policy including, but not limited to, procurement. The role will also lead on commercial training, governance, and data management to support the delivery of best value, cost-effectiveness, and continuous improvement across all commercial activities within the Council.
This is an exciting new opportunity within the Commercial Team, to lead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of commercial policies, procedures, processes, documentation, and strategies to ensure compliance, innovation, transparency, and value for money.
What You’ll Do
1. Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of commercial policies, procedures, processes, documentation, and strategies
2. Design and deliver targeted training and guidance programme for officers and elected members
3. Drive commercial excellence with both internal and external stakeholders
4. Oversee the development and use of commercial data and analytics within the Commercial Team
What We’re Looking For
5. Expert knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework relevant to public sector procurement
6. Proven experience in coaching, developing, and leading others
7. Experience of working in a commercial function delivering complex procurements and / or developing complex commercial strategies / policies/ documentation
8. An innovative and forward thinking with a ‘can-do’ attitude to change and continuous improvement, who will drive change
9. Excellent professional written and oral communication skills
