Your new role: As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of mechanical components within a shipbuilding environment. Reporting to the Trade Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring work is delivered safely, to specification, and in line with quality and production targets. Your key duties will include: Fabricating, assembling, and installing ship components in line with engineering drawings Using a range of hand tools and mechanical equipment to carry out fitting activities Interpreting fabrication and installation drawings accurately Ensuring all work meets company quality standards and tolerances Working closely with supervisors and other trades to achieve team targets Supporting shop floor activities and resolving practical issues Maintaining compliance with all SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) regulations Taking ownership of your work, ensuring it is completed to a high standard and within deadlines What you'll need to succeed: To be successful in this role, you will have: Recognised mechanical trade qualification (trade papers) Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, ideally in shipbuilding, marine, or heavy engineering Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication and installation drawings Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes Excellent hands-on skills using mechanical tools and equipment Understanding of SHE practices and workplace safety requirements Relevant safety certifications (e.g., SHE induction, COSHH awareness, working at height) A reliable, proactive attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills Ability to problem solve and adapt to changing work requirements What you'll get in return: Competitive PAYE rate: 20.80 per hour 8 uplift 12-month contract with potential for extension Opportunity to work on large-scale shipbuilding projects Experience within a highly regulated, safety-focused environment A supportive team culture with opportunities to enhance your technical skills Exposure to high-quality engineering standards and processes Security requirement: BPSS clearance (or ability to obtain) What you need to do now: If you're interested in this opportunity, click Apply Now to submit your CV, or contact us directly for a confidential discussion about your next move.
