What is Gender Identity Services? What do we do?
We provide a supportive environment, bringing together a wide range of experience into a highly specialised MDT which aims to address the needs of patients presenting with difficulties arising from gender dysphoria/incongruence. The team includes consultant clinical psychologists, mental health, learning disability and physical health nurses, speech and language therapists, a consultant psychiatrist, senior psychiatrists, consultant endocrinologists, GPs, gender outreach workers, doctoral level trainee clinical/counselling psychologists, and a prescribing pharmacist.
The role will be fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist. We are looking for passionate people with an interest in Gender Identity Services. Experience working with a gender diverse population is advantageous, especially those with prior experience in a gender identity service or specific training such as PGCert or PGDip in Gender Identity Healthcare Practice.
The successful applicant will be competent in assessing gender dysphoria, psychiatric co-morbidity, readiness for hormonal treatments, and surgical intervention.
Main duties of the job
* Work with medical colleagues and service managers to provide medical expertise, including assessments, diagnosis, and opinions on suitability for surgery, as well as prescribing services for Gender Identity service users.
* Engage in clinical governance processes and work within multidisciplinary assessment approaches.
* Make clinical decisions collaboratively within the MDT framework.

* Liaison with other professionals as needed.
* Excellent communication skills as a senior medical professional.
* Accurate and timely documentation of patient reviews.
* Application of MCA and MHA when necessary.
* Knowledge of safeguarding in clinical decision-making.
* Supervision of MDT and junior medical staff.
* Participation in supervision and multidisciplinary working.
* Contributing to clinical governance activities, audits, and risk management.
* Engagement in CPD and revalidation activities.
Person specification
Qualifications and registration:
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Full GMC registration.
Training and experience:
* Knowledge of gender services.
* Evidence of relevant CPD.
* Good written communication skills.
