As part of the expansion of our Homecare services, we are looking to appoint a enthusiastic Senior Pharmacy Homecare Officer to work as a key part of the Homecare team in Pharmacy across both of the Bedfordshire Hospital sites, liaising with Homecare providers, clinical teams and Pharmacy colleagues to ensure a consistent supply of high-risk medication to patients’ homes.
This role involves activities related to management of Homecare prescriptions and generating orders for these via Homecare providers used by the Trust using the Pharmacy computer systems. The successful candidate will be a key point of contact for any day to day service issues and a mentor to members of the Homecare team.
If you are interested in this post, you will need experience of working to deadlines and managing own workload to meet the needs of a service and be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills. You must be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for trying new roles and delivering an excellent patient experience.
You will be part of a busy but supportive and professional Homecare team. Comprehensive training and support will be provided to the successful candidate.
Please note this is a cross-site role and cross-site working will be required.
Main duties of the job
1. To carry out a range of duties associated with the ordering and receipt of medicines provided through all suppliers and Homecare providers used by the Trust using the Pharmacy computer systems.
2. To support and assist the Principal Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Technician in the effective supply of medicine to patients via Homecare providers for Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
3. In conjunction with the Principal Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Technician, to assist in the development of Homecare services for the safe and timely supply of medication to patients by establishing robust methods of managing workflow.
4. To support with the efficiency of the day-to-day running of the Homecare service and act as a point of contact when at the Bedford site. To work with the Senior Management team to ensure any issues and concerns at the Bedford site are resolved within a timely manner.
5. To work with the Trusts’ Pharmacy Procurement department with regards to the Homecare service contracts.
6. To maintain relevant databases related to all aspects of Homecare medicines provision and provide appropriate reports as required.
7. To work directly with clinical teams to enhance the delivery of Homecare services, review and improve existing services in association with the Principal Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Technician.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
8. English and Mathematics and 2 other subjects at GCSE level grade C or above
9. Level 3 NVQ units in relevant Pharmaceutical area or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
10. Experience of working to deadlines
11. Experience within Pharmacy speciality in the Homecare services – acquired through training and significant experience
12. Experience of data inputting – raising orders/invoicing
13. Experience of running reports using Excel or similar
14. Significant experience of working in a busy hospital or community
