Adecco is proud to be working in partnership with Swindon Borough Council to recruit a range of roles across Housing and Corporate Repairs, including:
Compliance Lead - Electrical
Salary: £51,356 | Level: CFL10
Join Swindon Borough Council at a pivotal moment in our transformation journey. Swindon is an ambitious, fast‑growing borough, and we are committed to delivering safe, compliant and high‑quality homes for our tenants. Backed by major investment, strengthened leadership and a clear mandate for improvement, this is an opportunity to play a critical role in shaping a modern service with real impact.
Background
Swindon Borough Council is delivering a significant improvement and transformation programme. Following a C3 regulatory judgement, we took decisive action and are investing £250 million over the next five years to improve safety, compliance, stock condition and tenant experience. As part of this journey we are investing in our teams and ensuring that new structures are in place to fully realise the improvements planned and required.
Your New Role
As Compliance Lead - Electrical, you will play a vital role in keeping residents safe by leading the delivery of electrical compliance across the Council's housing and corporate property portfolio.
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will act as the Council's subject matter expert for electrical safety, taking ownership of day-to-day compliance delivery and providing assurance that statutory obligations are consistently met. You will lead planned inspection, testing and remedial programmes, managing external contractors and holding them to account for quality, performance, cost and timeliness.
You will maintain clear oversight of electrical compliance data and certification, act as the Council's Principal Duty Holder for NICEIC, and provide professional advice to colleagues and senior stakeholders. Alongside operational delivery, you will contribute to continuous service improvement, investigations and forward planning, helping to embed a strong culture of safety, accountability and assurance.
What You'll Need to Succeed
We're looking for a confident and experienced compliance professional with strong technical knowledge of electrical safety within a social housing or local authority environment. You will hold a recognised electrical qualification, understand statutory and regulatory requirements, and have experience managing compliance programmes and contractor performance.
The ability to interpret data, provide clear technical advice and make sound, evidence based decisions is essential. A recognised health and safety qualification is desirable.
What You'll Get in Return
At Swindon Borough Council, you'll be supported to do your best work while making a real difference.
We offer:
Salary of £51,356 (CFL10)
Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
Professional development and career progression
The opportunity to work on high-profile, well-funded improvement programmes that genuinely improve people's lives
You'll be joining a service that is honest about the challenges it faces - and fully committed to getting it right.
