The Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Officer with Flood and Water Management experience to work within the Development Monitoring and Flood and Water Management (DM & FWM) team at Hampshire County Council. The team sits within Universal Services Directorate and, with support from our Highways, Planning, Ecology and Engineering colleagues, we undertake Hampshire’s Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) statutory planning roles; determine applications for land drainage consent; investigate flooding incidents across the county and liaise with other Risk Management Authorities (RMAs) to create Hampshire wide Flood Management Plans. This Flood and Water Management officer role is a two-year contract. The successful applicant will be leading on the investigation of flooding incidents across the county including liaising with the public and elected members, co-ordination with internal departments and liaison with external bodies to log, map and investigate flood incidents across Hampshire. You will also be involved in a wider range of technical, management and administrative activities including provision of Flood Risk Management guidance, Flood Alleviation Schemes, Ordinary Watercourse consenting and enforcement, and assisting in the mentoring of more junior team members. Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the flood and water management sector, experience in managing challenging situations and show an interest in learning new skills and possess excellent communication skills.
