Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary Chemistry Teacher to join our dynamic science faculty at a forward-thinking secondary school in Birkenhead. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality chemistry lessons to students aged 11–16 (and potentially 16–18), fostering a love of science and helping all learners achieve their full academic potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging and challenging chemistry lessons in line with the national curriculum.
Prepare students for GCSE Science (AQA, OCR, or Edexcel depending on school).
Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Assess, track, and report on the progress of pupils, providing effective feedback.
Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and CPD opportunities.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the science department to support curriculum development.
Ensure the health and safety of students during practical activities in the lab, following school and COSHH guidelines.
Essential Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
Degree in Chemistry or a related subject.
Proven experience teaching Chemistry at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable).
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for science education.
Excellent communication, classroom management, and organisational skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
Desirable:
Experience teaching A-Level Chemistry.
Familiarity with current educational technologies and digital learning tools.
Willingness to contribute to extra-curricular science activities or STEM clubs.
