Overview
Clark Wood is working with a leading accountancy practice in Cardiff who are seeking an experienced Personal Tax Manager or Senior Manager to join their growing private client tax team. This is a compliance‑focused position, offering the chance to manage a high‑quality portfolio whilst enjoying a balanced hybrid working arrangement in modern offices at Cardiff Gate.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, including high‑net‑worth individuals, company directors, landlords, and sole traders
* Lead and review the preparation of Self Assessment tax returns and associated compliance work
* Ensure compliance deadlines are met and that all work is completed to a high technical standard
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering clear and proactive communication
* Review work prepared by junior staff and provide mentoring, training, and technical support
* Identify potential advisory opportunities and liaise with senior leadership where appropriate
* Maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of UK tax legislation and HMRC requirements
* Contribute to internal process improvements and the development of best practice within the tax team
About You
* CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience)
* Strong background in personal tax compliance within an accountancy practice environment
* Confident reviewing returns and managing a busy and varied client portfolio
* Excellent communication and client relationship skills
* Comfortable supporting and developing junior team membersProactive, well‑organised, and able to work effectively within a hybrid structure
