Consultant Psychiatrist Kintyre and Islay

£107,144 to £142,369 per annum pro rata
This General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist post is based at the beautiful rural areas of Kintyre, Islay and Jura. The post holder is responsible for outpatient working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with one session in reach to the local Inpatient ward to oversee admitted locality patients.
The Community Mental Health Team comprises psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, psychology and social work services. In-patient beds are based at Succoth Ward, Mid Argyll.
It is expected that the successful applicant would provide consultant leadership within the community mental health team, working closely with the multi- disciplinary teams as well as crisis team, social work and voluntary organisations to provide a comprehensive service. They will undertake RMO responsibilities for their patients managed under the Mental Health Act and undertake domiciliary visits, Mental Health Act / Adults Incapacity and legal work for the patients on their caseload. They will be expected to work closely with consultant colleagues within the area, general practitioners, third sector and other teams. There is also an expectation that the post holder will contribute to strategic development and ongoing development of the local service.
Please note blended and remote working will be considered.
The post is for 8 programmed activities (sessions) per week (5:1 DCC:SPA) and the post holder will be welcomed into a friendly and forward thinking team of consultants where peer support is valued and protected.
There will be an opportunity work with a combination of remote access to the multi-disciplinary teams which operate in each locality and domiciliary visits when required. There is an active local academic programme. Junior support is provided depending on trainee rotations.
Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register with a Licence to Practice or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at time of interview.
