SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 – Reception)
* Location: PR3 area
* Contract: Full-time
* Start Date: ASAP
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30
* Pay Rate: £16.35 per hour
* Duration: Ongoing – continuing after the summer term (September)
A PR3 Primary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception-aged pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The pupil, a lovely little boy with ADHD, occasionally becomes emotionally dysregulated and overwhelmed, requiring consistent, nurturing support within the classroom. This full-time role is based entirely within the classroom setting, supporting the child with learning, emotional regulation, and engagement throughout the school day.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Provide 1:1 support to a Reception pupil with SEN in line with their EHCP.
* Support the child’s emotional regulation, attention, and engagement in learning activities.
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement agreed strategies.
* Encourage positive behaviour and build a trusting, supportive relationship.
* Assist with classroom activities, transitions, and routines.
* Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ADHD.
* A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
* Ability to support emotional and behavioural needs in a positive manner.
* Reliable, committed, and able to work full-time hours.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).
Desirable:
* Previous experience working in EYFS / Reception.
* Knowledge of EHCPs and individual support plans.
