About the Role This position in the Highways Asset and Policy team ensures effective asset management across Staffordshire’s highways. You’ll contribute to planning, policy development, and data-driven decision-making, using GIS and asset management software. Your role includes coordinating surveys, maintaining accurate data, and handling stakeholder enquiries to support continuous network improvements.

Main Responsibilities

As a member of the Highway Asset and Policy team you will:

Assist in the production of the Council’s Highway Infrastructure Asset Management Plan and other service area policy and strategies by researching, collating and summarising relevant material, data and information to inform policy.

Analysis of highway asset data and the preparation of reports including trend analysis and data limitations to inform projects being delivered by the team.

Application of GIS analysis techniques and other highway asset management and pavement management software to inform reporting and projects being delivered by the team.

To assist in developing the strategy for collection of asset condition and inventory information by co-ordinating surveys, analysing results, and checking adherence to key programme delivery dates.

Develop and produce plans, graphics and text to be included in reports, the Highway Infrastructure Asset Management Plan, other area and topic-based transport strategies and bidding documents.

Coordinate the provision of timely and accurate information and responses to customer and stakeholder queries, claims and correspondence.The Ideal Candidate

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and GIS skills, who has demonstrable knowledge and expertise in the analysis and interpretation of data together with:

A-levels, BTEC Level 3, or equivalent qualification/experience in a technical field.

Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, including GIS techniques.

Proficiency in Microsoft applications and presenting information effectively.

Knowledge of asset management principles related to highways.Key Skills:

Strong analytical abilities, with attention to detail.

Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and work independently.“We’re happy to talk flexible working”
