An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Princess Royal University Hospital campus for one full-time and one part-time occupational therapy assistant within our expanding and dynamic department. The post holder should have a strong commitment to working with people in a caring and rehabilitation environment, with previous healthcare experience necessary. This role involves direct patient contact, carrying out rehabilitation interventions under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist.
Main duties of the job
This position is aligned with the occupational therapy teams working mainly in the health and ageing unit and stroke unit. Occupational therapy assistants play a key role in helping patients reach their full potential and achieve their occupational therapy goals to facilitate their return home. Responsibilities include supporting patients in treatment and rehabilitation programs, accompanying staff on home and environmental assessments, and fitting equipment as needed.
The ideal candidate must possess good communication skills (both written and verbal), strong organizational and time management skills, basic IT skills, and the ability to work well within a team. Physical fitness is required to assist in manual handling of patients. Please note, the post may close early if sufficient applications are received.
